THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EASTER 4

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EASTER 4

THE LORD HAS NEED

Divinity requires partnership with humanity to get prophecies fulfilled. On several occasions, the Master needed what was wholly in man’s control to fulfill His redemption mission on earth. When Jesus was to hold His first crusade, He had need of Peter’s boat. When He was to host the Last Supper with His disciples, He had need of an Auditorium (Upper Room). Similarly, when Jesus Christ was to embark on the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, He had the need of a donkey.

Mark 11:2 -3
“And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. 3. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.”

Notice that no man ever sat on this donkey. Similarly, the Sepulchre where Jesus laid was virgin. Joseph hewn a very expensive tomb and sowed it as a seed to God.

John 19:41
“Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.”

Nicodemus was not left out in meeting the need of Jesus in His earthly ministry. He provided a hundred pound weight of sweet fragrance for the burial of Jesus. Understand that Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathaea were both members of the Jewish Council but secret disciples of Jesus for fear of the Jews. For Mary Magdalene, her responsibility was to mobilise financial support to meet the ministry needs of Jesus. Even at death, was at her best meeting the Lord’s needs. (Mark 16:1)

Luke 8:2 -3
“And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, 3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.”

As we celebrate this Easter, the Lord would have me ask: *What are you doing to meet the kingdom needs of Jesus today?* Do you spend millions and billions in politics, investments, social events and self but throw in pittance into the kingdom as if you are doing God and Jesus a favour? Are you among those mocking or criticizing the extravagant deployment of resources to meet the needs of the kingdom of Jesus on earth or you are among the present day version of Peter, Nicodemus, Joseph of Arimathaea or Mary Magdalene who saw meeting the needs of Jesus a huge privilege? “And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.” Selah!

Happy Easter!
