THE WAGES OF SOUL WINNING
John 4:36 KJV
*“And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.”*
The Bible uses wages principally in four senses. We have the wages of soul winning, the wages of righteousness, the wages of physical work, and the wages of sin. Here we are dealing with the first class of wages, the wages of soul winning.
Salvation is a free gift but reward for soul winning is not a free gift. Reward is a compensation or an award in recognition of your labour. Reward follows labour, in fact, strategic and fruitful labour. While your reward as a soul winner is contingent upon your labour (work) but your salvation is contingent upon the sacrifice paid by Jesus Christ. Christ invested His life and blood so he can be the first born among many brethren.
”For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Christ has put the plan on ground to achieve the goal of having “many brethren”. The four-fold plan of Christ is as follows:
We invite you to get engaged in this four-fold plan from today. This is the beauty of grace. Jesus commands us to carry out an assignment and, at the same time, makes help available for us to succeed that we might receive our rewards. It’s therefore in your power to determine your quantum of reward. But hear this: the quality of your reward depends on your depth of obedience to the command, the level of spiritual empowerment and the degree of equipping in knowledge, wisdom and understanding.
What will you do consciously and intentionally to determine or improve on the quality and quantum of your reward? Write them down in your Soul Winning Diary and run with it from today. If you do not have a Soul Winning Diary, get one today. It’s business time! Our Father’s business!
